1700's Hand Forged Iron Spiral Push Up Courting Candlestick withWood Base

  

Hand forged spiral stick that has spiral adjuster that could be wound up to keep track of time of courting couples. Has original spike for hanging as well. Approximately 7 1/4 inches tall.

The diameter of the wooden base is 3 3/4 inches to 4 inches. You will note in the images that the forged loop on the bottom has a cut nail to tightend the spiral stick to the base.

This does cause it to rock a little. A very wonderful and early item. Too many items are either getting lost or damaged in transit.
