Antique Doll Wood & Iron Hand Carved Horse Tricycle, 1800's, France Beautiful

  

Offered is a beautiful Antique Doll Wood & Iron Hand Carved Horse Tricycle. I believe this vintage toy to be from the 1800's and possibly made in France. This spectacular piece measures about 15 1/4 tall including the handle bars. He measures about 13 1/4 long excluding the tail.

This wooden horse is wonderfully hand carved and appears to have glass eyes. The handle bars are made of metal with wood grips. The tricycle front wheel pedals wonderfully! The back wheels are stationary. Possibly a bit of oil would make them move if desired. Most likely they are froze from age. I don't see rust on any metal though. The wheel spokes are metal. The wooden wheel exteriors have metal around them. The pedals are metal and spin independently. The tail appears to be made of real horse hair. This horse tricycle is in excellent condition with only a couple of stain rubs. The light spot on the mane turned out to be a leaf, and has since been removed.

(See pics) The condition is really spectacular considering it's age. I do believe a saddle could have been originally included with this toy, but is not present now. I'm not 100% certain that it originally had a saddle though.
