An Early American Hatchet/Adze Combo. Hand Forged Iron & Hardwood! Replete with excellent patina, this museum-ready late 1700s or early 1800s hatchet is a beautiful show piece! Made from hand-forged iron and dense hardwood (perhaps beech), this sharp hatchet and pointed adze is yet perfectly functional! The wooden handle appears to have been wrapped in leather at one point, perhaps for grip or for decoration. This piece is likely a practical implement from the late 18th century. Its origin is likely the United States. It has not been modified or preserved in any manner by me. This amazing artifact is EXCPETIONAL, MUSEUM QUALITY condition! The implement shows very little wear and no major damage or flaw.
It has not been altered or improved in any manner by me. Your item will come from a pet and smoke-free home.
